We've been to Punta Riviera, Bolinao, Pangsinan last Summer. The place is nice...BUT that's the only good thing I can say. We booked for 12 pax and paid 12,000 pesos for an overnight stay. We are very disappointed with our assigned room, though we are aware that the 12 of us will be sharing one room but we were never informed that we'd also be sharing the same restrooms with the other 2 big groups on the other rooms. 3 big rooms sharing 4 comfort rooms (2female and 2male)...untidy restrooms. Foods are ultra expensive (i.e., fruit sampler worth 250pesos - half pineapple and 2 bananas! grrr!). Service is bad, foods are served after an hour or so...patience is a virtue! The beach is okay but it is just knee to hip high...so you can't really swim. If you are really looking for a cool place and value for your money, think twice...I'd rather go straight to Hundred Islands. It is a lot cheaper and more beautiful.

Hi, Can anybody recommend a good place to stay at Bolinao?
Early as now, we're already planning our trip during the off-peak season where most resorts are budget-friendly and resorts are not that crowded. And we're contemplating if its bolinao or hundred islands.

Thank you for describing Bolinao so very well... we are still in the process of formalizing a tour package, although some of itineraries we prepare for clients are tailor-made, based on their number of days to vacation.. . may we invite you to look into some of our pix at the website: northernfrontiertravel.com... We also offer bangus farm visit, you might even get to watch how milk fish is harvested and try the many ways it is being prepared... Yummy!

10 of us stayed at Punta Riviera over the Christmas break. Their beach front is nicer than Puerto del Sol (though there's no stopping anyone from crossing over). There is a long stretch of sand bar where you can walk until you hit the part where the waves roll in. Safe for children. The infinity pool overlooked the beach, which made for a wonderful view.

Not sure if it's because of the overwhelming guest count, but the service was slow and food wasn't very good, and rather over-priced for what it was. Breakfast was supposed to be buffet, but you would have to line up and be served somewhat "paltry" serving sizes. Good thing someone tipped us that Puerto del Sol had good (but more pricey) food, so we would walk over there for our meals after the first disappointing dinner. Even if staff were pleasant, there were those little things that pointed to service "needing improvement" - like giving only 2 soaps for a room good for 4, room not ready for check-in even late afternoon, etc. Rooms were also not very spacious for a big group.

Their grounds though were well-manicured and set up for really relaxing. They had a lot of areas where you can just sit around, doze or look out to the sea. But for swimming, definitely, nothing beats Patar Beach, which is around a 30min drive away. It's a clean public beach with a great stretch of white sand and a wonderful sunset. An afternoon visit here is not to be missed.

Bolinao is really a hidden gem but be ready for the looooong drive:)
