Hiking & Camping at Mt. Famy in Siniloan

One of the closest places to do some hiking and camping in the summer is Mt. Famy. Situated in the north-eastern part of Siniloan in Laguna, Mt. Famy is one very attractive campsite to visit regularly.

Camping and hiking

Takes about 2 to 3 hours of bus from Manila to Sinoloan and another 15 minutes of tricycle ride to the foot of the mountain (although some of the buses travel straight to the hiking site). For a week-end trip, you may spend just a little less than Php500 which will cover the fares, canned food and some extra change. Take note of the Php20 registration fee at the entrance and Php100 if you need a guide. Another Php150 if you rent a horse & and a guide.

Falls and rivers

Waterfalls

If you bring some canned foods and cooking utensils, the better. There are some stores along the campsite where you can buy canned foods and pay for them to be cooked (usually fried or sauteed). That could cost you about Php20 to have a meal cooked with some rice. Mineral water is being sold and ice is brought in very early in the morning so mildly cold softdrinks and beer can be had anytime of the day.

Lansones Falls

Once you’re there, schedule your trips to several of the really cool places around — Sampaloc Falls, Buruwisan River, Lansones Falls, and the Batya-batya which is my personal favorite.

is the hiking going to need ropes?because i just read that last year there was some accident that happened involving a mountaineer’s rope being cut.

Abe » October 21st, 2006 at 12:13 am

Hi Beattrice,

There no phones there and the place is open as a park. You dont need ropes too although it could really get a little slippery during the rainy days.

Thanks for the reply Abe. We’re attempting to hike up there by this weekend. Hopefully my friends we’ll go along with it already. Another question: Is Sampaloc Falls, Buruwisan River, Lansones Falls, and the Batya-batya very near to the hiking site that when hiking up there, you’d pass it one at a time? How long is the hike up there? And when you hike up there with a guide, is the going down part easy enough that you won’t need the guide at all?
