Mt. Mayon Poised to Erupt?

Mayon Volcano, the country’s most active volcano, and known worldwide for its perfect cone, has been emitting lava the last week and may erupt soon. Its most destructive eruption occured in 1814, burying a whole town and killing 1,200 people. That church belltower we now often see in photos of Mt. Mayon is the only thing that remains of the town Cagsawa.

For travellers in the area, and those planning to visit, note that the area is already being evacuated of its residents. While it may be a chance-in-a-lifetime to capture Mayon in eruption, don’t let that lifetime be cut short. Stay safe!

would be believe that the pending eruption is actually attracting tourists.
i’m an hour away from mayon but we can hardly feel the rumblings. buti na lang! but when it erupts, legazpi will be inaccesible by land from manila.

legazpi city is safe. there are designated viewing areasto ensure tourists and local observers are safe. do visit our place..
