Rizal Beach: Gubat, Sorsogon
People always asked me where is the nicest, best beach to go to in my hometown. There is actually one and best: Rizal Beach in Brgy Rizal, Gubat, Sorsogon.
Facing the Pacific Ocean, this place isn’t as developed as one might think, which is actually good in some way. Although resorts have sprouted in its vicinity (old Duana resort and new places like Vera Maris) where travellers and vacationeers can stay the night, the rawness of the place have been somewhat preserved.
To date, there is still no entrance fee to the swimming public and although there is paid parking for your vehicles, cottages can still be rented (about 500 pesos/cottage/day) on a first-come, first-served basis.
But if you’re like us, we went at around 3 pm and stayed until almost six. Thus, no need for a cottage, just for a nice relaxing dip and play on the beach.
It was heaven… and i guess this photo shows it all.

Come on over, best time to come is March to May.

Hi! Saw your blog (Daragang Magayon) from whatsuplb, and i thought you must be from Bicol and also from UPLB. I was assigned here in Bicol by my company and since we (my wife and I - we also from UPLB) don’t know anybody from here, i decided to search the web for anybody we can connect with. Saw also your pics in Rizal Beach, can you recommend what time or day we can go there? where to stay? etc.
thanks
Gloria Gamat » May 2nd, 2007 at 8:01 pm
gener: yes i am from UPLB. any time of the day and week is a good time to go to rizal beach. in fact kahit gabi may nag-si-swimming dun pero siyempre u should take extra precaution. may hotel rooms for rent sa duana hotel and vera maris di ko lang alam how much rate. andun lang sila sa shore so easy to find. asan kayo stay dito sa sorsogon. if you like you can email me privately at daragangmagayon@gmail.com
eric: ha ha ha!!! yeah that’s true dami daragang magayon dito.
am glad u liked my region. sure glad if you could visit Sorsogon, it’s more exotic than other parts of bicolandia. ;-D

Hi Glo! Actually, dito ako naka base sa Naga City but the area I cover is the entire Bicol Region, except Masbate. Maybe one of this days, we will visit Rizal beach. Mukha kasing maganda e. If you don’t mind, what year did you graduate from LB? What course?
Thanks again.
gener » May 3rd, 2007 at 3:43 pm
Hi Glo! it’s me again. Can you also suggest other area of interest we can go visit during weekends? batong bato na kami sa bahay pag weekend e.

gener: naga city is just three hours drive from here. kung may sarili kayong car mas convenient kasi maganda naman ang road. naku boring nga diyan sa naga!
gener » May 7th, 2007 at 1:26 pm
Thanks Glo! Ibig mo sabihin Batchmate tayo? hehehehehe actually 88 dapat ako, pero napasarap sa LB kaya nag extend ako ng 1 year. Siguro before end of May makapunta kami dyan Sorsogon.

Hi Glo. Was finally able to visit Rizal Beach last July! We stayed for 1 night in Rizal Beach Resort. The place is nice and the food is good! We also went to the Old Church in Barcelona. The stained glass decor of the church are really fantastic!

OMG!!! I absolutely love this resort!!! The beach is comparable to Boracay’s incredible beach. I must say that this resort is far better than most of the resorts in that town like Vera Maris.

I missed terribly Gubat, I Praise & Thanks God the Lord JESUS CHRIST for having a hometown like Gubat in Sorsogon. I’ve been born and raised in this place, a simple, sleepy town of Gubat. Yes, of course Rizal, Dangkalan & Kaluyakay beach dine kami san mga barkada ko nag hang out always, inuman sumsuman always with a guitar, i have a bunch of friends they are very good musicians we sing compose songs even bicol language songs. I was born in town proper Manook St. I pray to God Jesus to Bind all the evil deeds working in Gubat like sicknesses & diseases, poverty & death. It was in dreams
Nelson Dino » June 8th, 2008 at 4:21 am
I was born there in Gubat grew up until graduating from Gubat National High School. Reminicence the place as simple, fresh, sleepy town, most children are good in academics when properly nurtured they can be very good in college. Remincence the laughter & smile of olds and young people alike of Gubat in Sorsogon. The Rizal, Dangkalan & Kaluyakay Beaches are our hang out places with my friends who are very good musicians always with guitar singing & composing songs. I Thanks & Praise God for having a hometown like Gubat. I missed the place. God bless the place & people of Gubat. Wala ng hihigit pa sa sariling Bayan!!!
Nelson Dino » June 8th, 2008 at 4:19 pm
I was born and raised in Gubat Sor. also, until I finished High School in National High . The Beaches of Rizal, Dangkalan & Kalayukay during summer is our regular hang out for picnic with exotic foods and guitar, I have bunch of friends in Gubat before they are all musically inclined skilled in guitar playing and singing. Dire pa niyo naabot an “Ugbos” sa may “Hangdawan”, a very nice place to gather “tagunhasun” kaya lang you have to walk appro. 5-6Kms.and pass through a river with strong current. Reminscence the place as simple, sleepy town, down to earth, the innocence smile & laughter of our olds & young people’s alike, the musicians in Gubat, from the family of Enaje & Esporlas atb. I Praise & thanks God for I was born in Gubat, and having as my town. There is no place like Gubat as my Hometown. God bless Gubat, Sorsogon & the people of Gubat at mga Gubatnons..

Glo, salamat for opening this door for others to see the real beauty of Rizal Beach Resort in our hometown. Though I would like them (visitors & balikbayans) to try our timitim (timatim as others call it). This mouth watering delicious type of cassava cake that I believe can only be found in our hometown. As I recall about this type of cassava cake is they put a coconut milk on this, with pili nut on top. If you want this to be a little exotic maybe you can make a side dish of fried I forgot the name of the small fish, I think its “kuyog” or something. As I recall my Mom order this timitim with a certain tiya conching somewhere in balud or sometimes in santa ana. There is also one cassava cake that is being sold their in poblacion, the baked one with queso. If you want more info about this type of cake you can ask Tiya Conching at Gajo Store so she can redirect you. I just hope that OGA and Golden Theater is still operational. The Pansit of tiyo Vincing co. The Arroz Caldo in Sorsogon Station at JB line terminal. Johnnies hot Pandesal. The halo halo, the Bilyaran, TheChurch and many more.. It’s almost 12 years now. I hope to feel the romantic breeze of the pacific ocean again and see the majestic mount Bulusan.

hello everyone,
KAYE
red » September 7th, 2008 at 4:20 pm
hi kaye,
i think sinungaling ang bf mo or sa bundok sya nakatira but i guess kahit sa bundok pa sya nakatira magkakaron ng signal yung kc for sure pupunta pa rin sya sa bayan. gubat is a large area compare to other towns in sorsogon and its a second class municipality. sa mga 5th class municipality nga me tower ang globe at smart, sa gubat pa kaya. btw taga san ang bf mo at ano name nya. one more thing me internet cafe na din pala dun, so its either ayaw ka lang niya itext or ayaw lang magparamdam nun sayo.
