A Philippine travel website wouldn’t be complete without the mere mention of Boracay. It may not be the country’s summer capital but it is definitely the favorite spot not only of Filipino but foreign tourists as well.

boracay_noliMy first time to go to Boracay was five years ago. I stayed there for a few hours since it was just a sidetrip taken by the organizer of the seminar that I attended in Iloilo. But those few hours was enough for me to appreciate the beauty of the Island. And this brief moment made promise myself that someday I’m going back there to have a full day vacation.

It took me five years to fulfill this promise to myself. I went to Boracay not only once but twice with an interval of one month. The first time was around April of 2004. I went there all by myself. I rented a cottage at Station 1, enjoyed the cool, pristine waters at the beach, lie on the white sand all day with the heat of the sun burning my skin and walk along the beach without wearing any shirt. Actually, this is one of the reason why enjoyed Boracay. It is the only place where you can go to without bringing too much clothing. But that’s another story. Despite the absence of a good company, I still managed to enjoy my stay there.

boracay_noliLess than a month after, I never imagined that I will be going back to the island. This time around, I was with some online friends. And this time, I enjoyed not only Boracay Island itself but also the neighboring islands surrounding it. Our group decided to join this island hopping tour. A whole day event offered for a fee by local boat owners. It was my first time to snorkell, and it was so much fun. And since I was with a group, partying was a must. In fact, it was my first time to party for 3 consecutive nights. I really had a grand time and would have loved to stay longer but unfortunately my resources was good for 3 days only.

Now, I am wondering when I will return to that island paradise. A Boracay packaged tour costs around P10,000 good for two days and three nights on the average. For an average Juan like me, this is certainly a lot of money. It was a good thing, I had the opportunity to visit the island not only once but twice in my lifetime.
