Villa Igang
Villa Igang is one of the many smaller and secluded resorts up in the northern part of the municipality of Nueva Valencia in the island of Guimaras. Situated just beside Puerto del Mar which is ran by John B. Lacson Colleges Foundation (a local maritime college), Villa Igang sports dozens of cottages for local and foreign tourists to rent for long vacations.
The great thing about this resort is that the beach front is sorrounded by mountains extending into the sea, so the northern winds are blocked off and the shore doesn’t get pounded by huge waves.
Huts or cottages can be rented for Php500 per day (with two beds) or go for the aircon ones which is Php900 per day. You’d be able to get discounts if you rent them on a weekly or monthly basis. Food is cheap as well — you can ask the local resto to cook you any fish, chicken or pork viand which could cost from Php45 for a chicken inasal or Php75 for a kilo of grilled fish.
Just 4 kilometers from the town of Poblacion, Nueva Valencia, you can reach Villa Igang by taking a boat from Iloilo City to the wharf of Jordan then a jeepney ride for another 30 kilometers south-west. Jeeps are available from 5 in the morning to 7 in the evening but you can hire pedicabs or tricycles for Php150 to Php250.
One can hire a pump boat from Iloilo City directly to the Villa Igang for about Php500 to Php800 per trip. Cheaper if you are in a group.

Any idea if there are boats leaving Pulupandan for Villa Igang? Plus, how did they arrive with the name Villa Igang? “Igang” in cebuano is “mainit” in tagalog…

I’m not sure but I guess you can hire a boat for the trip. There’s a town called Igang nearby so I guess they inherited the name as well.

just been in a paradise..Villa Igang is so cool and very nice..very close to nature…the rock formations are truly amazing..starfish of different colors are totally cute…it’s the best place to enjoy nature…just one thing, please STOP littering..we luv Igang, don’t exploit…be back there soon…mwah

Hi guys. We stayed in Villa Igang from 16 to 18 February 2006, and thoroughly enjoyed the place. In fact, I’ve been recommending it to friends. Igang is Hiligaynon word for limestone which is very abundant in Guimaras. The island itself is made of limestone, that’s why Guimaras mangoes are sweet because the lime neutralizes the acid in mangoes.

we stayed overnight in villa igang last friday (august 21).
what i can say is that the staff are very friendly and hospitable. very homey place. they gave hot water for my kid’s bath water without extra charge.
they also have nice place at night, breezy and cozy. very suitable for relaxing. if just for that I will stay in the same resort again. the ambiance is great that you can find in commercialized resorts nearby.
The place is like a home, if you need anything, just ask the staff and they’ll help you find it.
the downsides:
1. remote – from the roadside, you need to be fetched by a tricycle if you don’t want to walk 600 kms especially during very dark night.
2. food – delicious cooking however, if you want to eat late at night, there is nothing there. The cooks go home and the mini store does not have anything substantial. and cooked food is a bit pricey. however, you can have them cook fresh catch if you chance by it for a minimum charge. tip: before you go there, bring some food.
3. beachfront – is not good for swimming during low tide (many stones, full of starfishes and seaweeds) and a bit icky dirty and itchy during high tide as the seaweeds and other garbage are floating in the water. but you will see the staff continuously clearing it.
4. room – aircon is not enough during daytime (though there were split type aircon in the other rooms). not well managed rooms. but the location of the room given to us is just perfect so we didn’t request for transfer. no hot shower (although this was informed before hand, so it does not matter to us anymore). no tv, this was not informed.
overall, if you don’t mind the remoteness (and other downsides) of the place and you just want some good rest and nice service, this is the place to be.
