Grand Marian Procession, Intramuros , Manila.
The annual procession of images of The Virgin Mary is held every 1st Sunday of December in Intramuros.
In honor of the birthday of the Blessed Virgin Mother, thousands of devout Catholics join a grand procession in which more than 100 images and statues of the Blessed Virgin are paraded through the streets of Old Manila. This feast is organized by the Cofradia de la Inmaculada Concepcion.
The statues and images of the Virgin Mary are from all over the country and thousands of devotees join de parade.
Where: Intramuros. The parade starts in front of the Manila Cathedral and finds its way inside the small streets of the walled city. Be there at around 5 pm. The parade last for several hours.
When: Every first Sunday of December.
My rate: 10/10. It is a unique occasion to get a glimpse of the many gorgeous statues of the Virgin Mary that are normally scattered all over the country. As usual during those religious festivals you need to be prepared to face big crowds of devotees.

Yes, Dylan. I returned yesterday to finish the series I started last year.(I will publish my series in my blog soon.) Last year I was late and there was a bit of rain in the morning. I wasn’t able to take nice pictures of the statues since most of them where wrapped in plastic to protect them from the rain. This year I managed to get all the pictures I was missing.
It was fun and the status gorgeous. It is really a unique way to see so many status together.
Did you attend too? To be honest I am not good in remembering faces and I am not sure I would be able to recognize you in such a big crowd.

Yes, I was. When I arrived, the 3rd carroza already went past the stage. There was a bit of rain and man, was it humid! I was soaking wet!
I attended because my friend\’s family owns the Rosa Mystica statue so I was there to take photos of them. So I guess both our blogs will carry Marian photos, he he!
