Sonya’s Garden in Tagaytay
In a previous entry, Anton itemized overnight possibilities in Tagaytay, Sonya’s Garden being one of them. Actually, Sonya’s is more than just a bed-and-breakfast. It’s also a popular get-away destination for the urban folks. It’s far enough from the city to get the feeling of being on a short vacation, but close enough to make the trip to get there, have a sumptuous lunch or a massage, and head back home.

Tucked in the rolling hills of Tagaytay, Sonya’s Garden is a peaceful, relaxing place, just exactly what burnt-out yuppies in Manila need. The flowers and interior design make the place so romantic, the place has probably already been witness to hundreds of marriage proposals. I personally know a few who have spent their nth honeymoons here, or who have given massage gift certificates as birthday presents to their spouses.
Another highlight of Sonya’s Garden is the food. Toni (who also provided the photo above) says:
But going to Sonya’s Garden in Tagaytay is always a treat. HER salads I like. The greens are fresh and her dressing tastes great. In the picture my salad has lettuce, fresh mangoes, cucumber, hard-boiled egg, pineapple bits, beans and her special dressing. I had two big servings. Mmmmm.
Maybe it’s the ambience in her garden that makes eating a salad a wonderful experience — there’s a whispering breeze, the sound of water flowing from a fountain, the sound of leaves and flowers rustling… Maybe I’d eat more salad if everyday was that relaxing!
Want to try it for yourself? Here’s how to get there:
From South Superhighway exit Santa Rosa and turn right towards Tagaytay. Upon reaching main Aguinaldo highway, turn right toward Nasugbu, Batangas. Go past Tagaytay Rotonda and proceed for 10km. After Splendido Golf course adn Sunrise Hill make a right turn on the Buck Estate. Drive for 2km and watch out for Sonya’s on the left side. Use the first gate and drive towards the end of the driveway and make a right towards parking lot.

Hi! rate per person in Sonya’s Garden is P2500 on weekdays and P2800 on weekends. That includes an overnight accommodation a breakfast and a lunch or dinner. They have great rooms all have distinctive furniture pieces. I myself would like to spend a weekend here. Hope this helps :p

Hello! I have been to Sonya’s Garden twice and I rave about it to friends and family who hasn’t gone there. For day trippers, the cost of a meal (there is only 1 set, by the way) is Php700. The first time I was there the meal cost only around Php500, but anyway, it’s really worth it. This includes salad with the freshest vegetables and fruits straight from Sonya’s garden topped with her really tasty dressing; two kinds of pasta - white sauce (Alfredo-style) and tomato sauce (with basil, i think); breads with some spreads; turron or fried sweet camote for dessert; tarragon tea; freshly squeezed dalandan juice, and of course the great ambiance. Mind you, it’s an eat-all-you-can thing!

I just want to send a comment regarding my mom’s visit this morning in sonya’s garden. She went there this early morning, she does’nt have any complaints about the salad. My parents decided to have a massage and body scrub, however. after the scrub, while they were enjoying the scenery of the garden, they saw the room they used for changing their clothes, they realized that their body were exposed, because the room was open from the secenery. They were so embarassed, that they decided to leave right away than complain.
Today is my parent’s anniversary, and I was the one that recommended the place. They were totally disappointed and never want to return in that place.
I hope that they should be more aware of the comfort, security and privacy of their guests.

i’ve been to sonya’s during one of our exposure tours and its such a nice place. it’s actually worth the travel and time and their entire concept “the art of doing nothing” really complements the ambiance and image of the place. It’s quite tempting to say the least. The food is great too, they have a wide variety that wont disappoint. Its a nice place and its quite rare compared to your common cosmo spa.
