The San Pedro Cathedral is the oldest Church in the City of Davao. It was built in 1847 during the arrival of the Spanish Conquistadors, led by Don Jose Uyanguren. The right chapel houses the old altar (before the renovation) as well as the statues of some Saints. (Reference)

It lies at the heart of the City, right infront of the Davao City Hall and bordered by San Pedro St. , Bolton St. and C.M. Recto Ave.

Rounding the walls of the Church are vendors plying candles, Scapulars and statues of the Virgin Mary and various Saints.

Come Sunday the part of San Pedro St. infront of the Church is cordoned off from vehicular traffic to take into account the huge volume of parishioners who come for the Masses. The outside of the Church also comes to life with colorful balloons and toys being sold by hawkers to parishioners kids. I have to mention also the yellow colored popcorn that is being sold via pushcart.

Masses in the Cathedral are held in both English and the Visayan dialect.
