Pintados de Passi
Passi City, Province of Iloilo
I’m sure many of you haven’t heard of a festival called Pintados de Passi yet. This unique festival is held every March 13 in Passi City, in the province of Iloilo.
The Pintados de Passi Festival recalls the life of the early settlers in the island of Panay. These men adorned their bodies with tatoo. Thus, these group of people were called the “Pintados” or “the Painted men”.
The Pintados de Passi is no stranger to cross-competing in other festivals. This Passi City-based fiesta has won the 2004 Kasadyahan Festival in Iloilo, 2nd Place winner in the Free Interpretation Category of 2006 Cebu Sinulog Festival, and the grand champion of the 2005 Aliwan Fiesta.
This year’s Pintados de Passi contingent will present a story of sugarcane workers who have been attacked by creatures like aswang, and kapre.

Yeah, when Jolo and I talked about the color scheme, I precisely asked this palette to give it an earhtly look. Seems like we suceeded on that part.

I dont find anything sarcastic about your costumes guys. Im sure what inspires the Pintados is the zeal of the illonggo to show the other side of its rich culture. I think what you failed to do in this 2006 festival is the choreography. Its a must that one should not seen the same effect that you did last 2005. Hey, you have strong potential and a dozen of talent to show so keep it up.

sir kevin piamonte is one of the choreographer of pintados de passi.. that was last year. sir kevin piamonte is a prof at the university of the phillippines in the visayas under the division of humanities. he is the director of the play “OLAYRA: PRINSESA CANG (KANG) DAGAT”. i don’t know lang if isa par in sya sa choreographers pero idol ko sya talaga!!

wayback n hyhskol,i tend to critize passi coz of the reazon tht i dont knw.bt now being away from d place wer i was born,away frm families,friends,classm8s, and my alma matter d passi nat’l hyh skol[wer most of d drumers,warriors,and teachers cme frm]i tend to realize that passi city is much improve,clean,and organize city compare to other cities tht i had gone through.the people were nice.im so xcited to go home n my native place.nothng compares than passi city.bt i hope tht as tym goes by,passi city would also imprve n terms of medical services and its laws………………….i hope it wl improve more.godblesssssssssssssssssssssssss
