Overnight Options @ Tagaytay

Have you ever been faced with the question of where is the best place to stay overnight in Tagaytay? You might come across this question when a balikbayan goes home and only has limited time to explore the Philippines. Of course, the best way is to showcase Tagaytay with all its culinary wonders, cool weather and amazing view of Taal Volcano. To save you some time, I’ve checked out five (5) prominent hotels/inns in the Tagaytay area.

Discovery Country Suites Tagaytay

This is in the high end of the hotels in Tagaytay same pricing as Tagaytay Highlands (which are for members only). It has the country home feel to it, and you can immediately feel at home with its setting. There are only seven (7) rooms:

  • The first 3 rooms (Analucia, St. Tropez, Ceylon) costs P4,500++ on weekdays and 6,500++ on a weekend.
  • The second 3 rooms (Nantucket, Siam, Nara) costs P5,500++ on a weekday, 7,500++ on a weekend.
  • The last room (Oxford) is P7,500++ (weekday) and P10,000++ Weekend.

Each room is good for two (2) and you need to pay P800+ for each additional person. It includes complimentary country breakfast buffet and complimentary wine tasting with cheese and hor d’oeuvres. This is the only place with Wi-Fi! There is a very samll outdoor jacuzzi and I was disappointed with the view because the red roof of the house actually blocks the view of Taal Volcano.

300 Calamba Road, San Jose, Tagaytay City 4120, Philippines
(63 46) 413.4567 (Tagaytay), (63 2) 683.8383 (Manila Reservations)
www.discoverycountrysuites.com

Taal Vista Hotel

You’ll be amazed at how the Fuego Hotels transformed this Tagaytay landmark into a beautiful hotel. Gone are the days of mass people flocking to Tagaytay Vista Hotel to look at the magnificent view for free. Now, you need to pay P100 for parking not unless you dine or stay overnight it is free. Currently, they are on promo for P3,400 net for a superior room with breakfast for (2) on Sundays, Mondays, Tuesdays, and Wednesdays. What is nice about the hotel is that the rooms could rival Manila Pen’s rooms, there is an inviting blue swimming pool, a kids playground, wonderful lobby, and the best magnificent view of Taal Volcano. We chose to stay here and you can read some more in my Taal Vista Hotel experience.
15th Floor, 139 Corporate Center, Valero St. Salcedo Village Makati City, 1227 Philippines
(632) 751.3088 to 89/ (632) 751.8418 to 19
taalvista@fuegohotels.com

Days Hotel Inn

This is a hotel chain and suppose to be this is a value-for-money inn. However, when we inquired the rate is P4,360 with breakfast on a weekday which is 20% discount on the Standard Double Room (published rate is P5,450). Nothing much to say about this place, except that we were disappointed with the cost because it did not meet our expectation. This hotel also has a great view of Taal and normally used for wedding receptions during the summer.

Aguinaldo Highway, Silang Crossing, Tagaytay City
(63 46) 413.2400
www.dayshotel.ph

Estancia Resort Hotel

This hotel looks old already and the rooms feels like you are in a motel room. If you are budget conscious then this is the place to be. The superior room only costs P2,900 net, Nipa Hut at P3,200 net, De Luxe Room at P3,500 net and Executive Suite at P3,900 net. This includes breakfast already and extra person costs P600. There is a restaurant overlook taal lake and a swimming pool under a bridge which I think is not appropriate.

Zone 2, Brgy San Jose, Tagaytay City
(046) 413-1133 to 35

Sonya’s Secret Garden Bed and Breakfast

You’ll stay in an al-fresco garden ambiance for P2,500 which already includes dinner and breakfast. This is ideal for cool months but not advisable during rainy season. For those of you who have not been here, this would continue to be a secret but I’ll leave the mobile phone for you if you need more inquiry on this place (63 917) 533.5140 / (63 917) 532.9097

[...] In a previous entry, Anton itemized overnight possibilities in Tagaytay, Sonya’s Graden being one of them. Actually, Sonya’s is more than just a bed-and-breakfast. It’s also a popular get-away destination for the urban folks. It’s far enough from the city to get the feeling of being on a short vacation, but close enough to make the trip to get there, have a sumptuous lunch or a massage, and head back home. [...]

while i agree that the new taal vista hotel is great, i feel saddened by the fact that private establishments are gobbling up all the great views of taal. You’re right; having “mass people flocking to Tagaytay Vista Hotel to look at the magnificent view for free” doesn’t help the hotel in any way, but i can’t help wondering where these folks who can’t afford this new “luxury” will go now.
great blog on our awesome planet, by the way. :D

I really find your blog interesting! I love travelling too and I make sure to check your site for comments and suggestions when planning a trip.

Roger Lopez » August 9th, 2007 at 11:54 am

We just stayed at the royal taal, my spouse and our two children and I. They were super. They had the best overloooking rates in Tagaytay and believe me, we checked everywhere! The staff was friendly and their service was good. Internet connection was okay as most other hotels in Tagaytay did not offer internet connections.

When we stayed at the taal vista last visit and we paid more than Php 4800 and the service was lousy.

We’ll be staying at the roayl taal our next visit to Tagayaty in 2008!

i suggest to those who are a bit looking for a cheaper but still comfy and nice rooms to stay in tagaytay to try and visit keni po rooms. they are on the way to picnic grove their room rate is only 1200php. aircon, cabletv hot shower and if you are lucky you could avail of their room with tub if its vacant…

mark » March 30th, 2008 at 10:31 am

yeah, i have been to keni po rooms in tagaytay for several times… and i should say that their price is very cheap for a very hotel type of service and room. The room comes with complete toiletries even with disposable slippers… how many hotel still gives away disposable slippers… only the expensive hotels… and their food is also priced reasonable and good.

ask ko lang po kung anu ang mga pwedeng tuluyan(overnight) na malapit s picnic groove at paano po pumunta dun..salamat po..email ko po..chancellor_0932@yahoo.com

mark » December 13th, 2008 at 12:07 pm

If you’re looking for a nice and affordable place to stay at malapit sa picnic grove, try KeniPO. It’s just 5 minutes away from Picnic grove. Actually pwede mo pa ngang lakarin. If you are taking the Aguinaldo Hiway, turn left when you reached the crossing and it’s just beside the Ina ng Laging Saklolo Church.. Same if you the the route via Sta ROsa, upon reaching the city market, turn left ka rin and malapit na dun. Hope this helps.

ROYAL TAAL BAD EXPERIENCE: Hi it is true that Royal Taal Inn offers the cheapest rate, but we just had a bad experience this lenten season, we lost a huge amount of money. Take note we lost more than what we spent. On the day that we are about to check-out, I checked our money early morning in preparation for the payment for the accomodation, and was so surprised that I lost 8 thousand pesos on top of our spending, as of the moment I know how much I have on my bag, and so we ate our breakfast at their lounge and when we went back to our room, we already informed their recepionist that we are leaving and if she can give us the total bill. She gave it to us, and I was surprised that after the payment we LOST again 5 thousand on top of the bill!!!! WHAT THE HELL!!!! I called the receptionist and ask who can possibly enter the room early this morning as I left my bag because I knew we are just 2 floors away from our room!!!! She denied everything, well as expected and I found out that the receptionist and the guy who cleans the room are brothers and sisters!!! Well!!! It’s up to you guys how you can judge what happened! It was just a very traumatic experience, this is our first time in tagaytay, first time to check-in on this place and this is what we got! By the way, when we ask if we can talk to their manager, the receptionist just told us that she is not there and she’ll just inform her about the incident! I’m in doubt that she’ll do it. Hopefully the manager can see this, and to everyone be cautious!

Hi, this site is very helpful and informative for people like me who have no idea where to stay best in Tagaytay. Thanks to you people, I’ve discovered Keni Po and will be staying there this coming month. I just want to know if someone can help us out with regards to Keni Po’s bank account details. I am based abroad and am asking my sister in law to coordinate with regards to booking the place and payment. She is quite unsure about the bank transfer (bank details) since the account name given to her to transfer the reservation payment is not named under Keni Po’s account but the name of the person, which is supposedly the owner. Any feedback on this would be highly appreciated as we need to send the payment latest by Friday. Many thanks again and more power …

I attended a wedding in Tagaytay Highlands. Although the event was pretty ordinary, they served some very extraordinary wine, vintage wines from France 20-30 year-old. I love wines. I asked them where they got them and the waiter told me from YATS. I couldn’t find YATS in Tagaytay and nobody there seemed to know about this YATS company. Can someone give me a hint? I really would like to find this wine shop, YATS.

dindin » June 30th, 2009 at 1:22 am

sonya’s garden is very nice and quaint and picturesque. a little warning though for those with pollen allergies…watch out. last time we visited there, i had a bad case of allergic rhinitis afterwards. make sure you bring your meds if ever!!!

anton, have you heard of the casa blanca in tagaytay? are there any new places to have a romantic day trip or a fun family day trip, easy on the budget but well worth the experience?

eLan » July 1st, 2009 at 4:44 pm

to kirstin’s question… I am not so sure but i suggest you try YAT’S RESTAURANT in Mimosa Leisure Estate, Clark Field, Pampanga. The restaurant’s name used to be YAT’S INTERNATIONAL WINE CLUB and they have an extensive collection of vintage wines. Hope this helps.

how much is the present rate (room accommodation) in keni po ‘good for two persons? we plan to stay there overnight this coming aug. 30 and so i really need an immediate reply.tnx.

mark » August 22nd, 2009 at 11:16 am

i think there has been some minor updates as regards keni po’s rate particularly for good for 2 rooms. On weekends and HOlidays, their rate is P1500 but still the same rate of P1,200 on weekdays. However, for their family rooms and villas, they still maintain the same rates as before. Very reasonable rates since they now have a swimming pool!

IF you want to know more on kenipo, you can visit their site at keniporooms.blogspot.com

hi i know this place its not quite as cheap as the others but it’ll be worth your money. It’s name is Pura Vida Resort. dont know for sure what is the size of the bed when i was there but i think its a queen size bed, has a nice view over their pool(free use), and they have a sauna above the pool. for the room that has a queen size bed is about P3,500.00. its not directly located at the nat’l road but its near the side facing the taal volcano, here is a url of the map (http://wikimapia.org/1491684/Pura-Vida-Resort) and here is an example of the view on one of the rooms available (http://www.flickr.com/photos/wiverne/3121531075/). they also have a 3 story house or whatever u call it. 10 persons for 10k. i know its not cheap but then again i tell you, worth it.

kenneth » December 11th, 2009 at 12:30 pm

hi guys! i’ve recently visited kenipo for the nth time and now they offer free wifi! and without even charging extra! my gf and i spent the whole day browsing the web in one of the cottages while enjoying the pool view, their picturesque garden and the cool breeze! really got more than my money’s worth!

mimi » January 24th, 2010 at 7:44 pm

Just went to Tagaytay and stayed at Royal taal inn. its quite near in People’s park but so far in many restaurants. also, Im a little bit dismayed at the hotel. Their pillows STINKS plus their water heater does not work all the time. and what sucks is their so called “CONTINENTAL BREAKFAST”. It only consist of 2 slices of bread and 1 sunny side-up egg/coffee and orange juice. other than that, the scenery and place is fine.. except ofcourse the things i mentioned above.

thanks

kenneth » January 29th, 2010 at 12:40 pm

yeah , tried it also this weekend… sorry me i did not read your post mam mimi, royal taal is too expensive… should have just booked again at keni po. much more reasonable price for a very good room. anyway i can view the volcano whole day while visiting picnic grove. Not a Good experience staying at royal taal… same as 5R room for rent not good also.

Thanks if anyone got feedbacks. My email: qc_20@hotmail.com

i am curious about keni po. does the place has functions rooms for seminar, meetings, consultations etc. You see we are going to have a consultation meeting this coming April 2nd week which consists of 30 pax. Can the keni po accomodates us? or could you give us a cheaper place where we can stay for 2 days and 1 night for the conduct of our meeting? we are from the government office and you know we alway have budegetary requirements. The amount alloted for each person is only P1,200 per day. Maybe we could make a little adjustment, if ever. Can you suggest a better place in tagaytay city? tnx in advance. Please I need your reply asap for me to prepare the project proposal and the budgetary requirements. tnx agen

Maignaut Family » May 5th, 2010 at 9:03 pm

Hi,

Me, my husband and son was in vacation in Pinas and we went first to hundred island; disappointment to the max…the site could be great but the tourisme office not doing their work at all…after H.I. we went to Tagaytay, for my hubby loves to do hiking…disappointment to the max for the accomodation…and jus tlike EIN and Mimi’s message above…we stayed in Royal Taal in…we found this Inn thru internet and was seduced to the pictures overlooking the volcano, that it could be nice having BF in the terasse and some bedroom photos not that great already but still do the reservation. On our arrival, nobody greet us…its the security guard who welcome us…going down to our room, the girl was panting because she just have had the TV installed…she showed us the room and i was already a little dismay…So when all the things ( maleta’s and all) settled in the room and say bye to our driver…i went and closed the bedroom door. My son then who plays his PSP in the double bed tells me that the bed is not so secured, meaning the double bed has no side-barriers and his bed cover smells bad. then i want to rest before going out for dinner ( they advised us to have food delivery), just like what Mimi says and i confirm…the pillows stinks, its at that moment then i noticed how the room smells bad. The bathroom curtain is not that long enough to cover from the shower, the lavabo moves, the water stinks and most of all, i dont feel good. I said to my husband to change place the following day. He said that for 2 days in tagaytay we’ll just let it pass. So we ask how will we have to go to eat dinner outside… they have a contac, tricycle that cost us ( aller-retour) 350.00 pesos!!! I said, ok we’ll take it… at least our dinner chez Josephine’s are that great…going back to Royal Taal Inn…sleeping to smelly pillow…i may had sleep later then because of the fatigue or else…So the follwing day after BF ( refer to waht Mimi said) with a tricycle we went around the area and came to Ken Po’s, unfortunately the only available room for us three is the one downstairs…i did not like it so we went to 5R’s. Even though not that great but at least i smelled first the bedcovers and pillows and they smell clean so we take the room. But in the outside view from our room Ken Po’s upstairs rooms maybe good…i think they are always fullybooked.

So, you see guys…when reserving hotels or Inns…dont trust pictures posted, they were photos taken when they’re newly open but there’s no upgrading or maintenance to their establishment. The BF we had in the terrase?, oh my oh my, i said to my son to be carefull on the chairs…they are made of steels but its rusting and the black paints are cracking up.

I’m not overdoing of what i am writing here…what happen to EIN is terrible…her money being stolen…but what Mimi wrote is a confirmation to what i am narrating here…And people must know these…

Thanks Kenneth for this blog site of yours…i will continue my story to other blogs too, for the awareness of the people.

hi

i have the same question as Volei.

I called Keni Po just a few mins ago and the receptionist told me to pay the full amount and deposit to a certain Mary Grace Parra before they confirm my reservation.

is this really the process? thank you so much and hope you’ll answer to my query. thank you!

Guys, try Villa Pura Resort if you’re on a tight budget – very affordable.

If you are looking for a secluded place in Tagaytay, I know of Moon Garden and Colossian Garden.

If you are looking for overlooking spots, There is Casablanca, Leslie’s and RSM.

Lots of wedding venues are also located in the Tagaytay-Nasugbu road.

I was too excited to bring my kids & nephew with me in Estancia Tagaytay despite the peak rates. We were group of 16 with 9 kids!Kids, as we all know them, all love a splash of water. Obviously, they all enjoyed the pool. With the package of 7500+/overnight: 2 breakfast (which we did not have) , 2 tkts for a cable car (not in the hotel) & souvenier photo in the lobby. To all travellers with kids like me: Estancia Hotel in Tagaytay is not a family hotel to bring your kids to. Have them laughing in the lobby and you’ll get the devilish eyes of the hotel manager on you!To rate:RATED NO. 1 on DONT EVER GO BACK DESTINATIONS

Joey » April 27th, 2011 at 4:17 pm

I agree with Anna. Estancia Tagaytay is a “don’t ever go back” destination. Their concept of customer delight is almost zero. Can you imagine, you pay P 800 for an extra bed (with breakfast), but those using the extra beds are not entitled to welcome drinks? For the price of one ice tea, those people are not welcome I guess. And check this out, you have to pay forward the contents of the mini bar and it will be refunded back upon check out if you don’t take anything. And that was said after we just paid P 12,800 for 2 big rooms. Great customer relations. The pool was ok, but the jacuzzi was attracting (take note) BIG mosquitoes! We were able to slap a few on the shoulders of our kids. So yes, definitely not for children. The food is also nothing to be excited about considering the price on their menu. Better go out and eat somewhere else like we did. But what I didn’t like the most was the fact that their holy week rates (almost 2k add on/ room) were not published on the net. Bulaga nalang when you’re there already, and it’s too late to go to another hotel because the traffic was BAD. It’s no surprise we heard a customer verbally slugging it at their front desk.
