Aliwan Fiesta 2006
The country’s grandest festival showdown is set to take center stage next month along Roxas Boulevard, in the Grand Old City of Manila.
The highlights of the festival will be on April 29, where various festivals, floats, and festival queens will parade from Quirino Grandstand down to Aliw theater adjacent to the Star City theme park.
As of this writing, there are already 28 festivals who have confirmed there attendance. These are:

The Grand Festival winner will be taking home the 1 Million-Peso cash Prize. First runner-up will receive P500,000 and third runner-up, P250,000. The top 10 finalists will each get P10,000.

meron.. the Sinulog festival, for the first time will be joining the Aliwan. A lot has been written already about the Sinulog’s Lumad Basakanon group. read the other article from this site.
and i guess this year will be a tough year for the region 6, as there will be 30 festivals competing. last year 16 lang yata..

comment lang last sinulog 2007 sa Cebu, Outstanding talaga and Lumad Basakaon. Ive seen them perform several years already as PLDT, Cebu Auto Glassmasters and other names. Hope you can continue doing your best. Good Luck sa Aliwan..
Some people are saying na out-of–town contingents are better than Cebu’s contingent. Of course they should/must be better..a province or a city or town subsidized/supported by one city/province/town should be able to give outstanding performance compared to elementary and high shcools of Cebu and Cebu Province. Other provinces/cities/towns practiced months before the Sinulog while Cebu’s schools practice around December and they have to solicit costumes pa. See the reason why OTC have more costumes and props.

it was an awesome performance that Tribu Basakanon rendered last January 20 for the Sinulog Festival!!! They are indeed an over-all Champion for thier performance!!! KUDOS and more Power!!! good luck for the Aliwan Festival./ See you there. I wont miss watching that very day Mabuhay ang mga BISDAk

karasikas … yung choreographer nila.. pinagtitripan yung isang propsmen… hinuhusgahan ng kung ano-ano…hindi muna kasi inaalam kung ano ang totoo… at king cnu ang tunay na tamad na propsmen..syangapala…wag mo na ako uling mumurahin dahil kahit kelan hindi na aq sasali sa inyo..buti nga hindi naka-place sa sinulog!

why everyone claims that they are good..ofcouse…FILIPINOS are good all the times…very unique ang festival…thats why no need to bet whose the best festival in the Philippines..cuz all performers from different regions in the country are the best from their towns and cities….thats why everyone should be proud of being part of aliwan festival…it is not a showcase of boasting one’s festival but it is a call for everyone in the region to make its festival more meaningful and colorful in order to let everyone comes to you place…..MABUHAY!
