Sure the festivals are inn and well-participated by local folks and it attracts tourists from all over the country. This year, we witnessed how the Kabankalanons celebrated the original Sinulog Festival. The Sinulog de Kabankalan is act of thanksgiving for the Sto. Nino who saved the Christians from the Moros.
But there are more to it than just the Sinulog Festival.
Aside from the traditional “Sabong” or the cock derby in the city, Kabankalan is also host to sports tourism like the one we witnessed in our 3-day stay here.
There is long downhill highway in Kabankalan which is the venue for this young kids to play with their long boards.
During the Pool Party at Zaycoland Hotel, one of the featured event was the awarding of the Longboarding event. This sports event is part of the Sinulog de Kabankalan Festival.
We visited this shooting range some 5 kilometers from Zaycoland Hotel. We arrived in a full-parking well-participated shooting fest which I was told that it was their second day of the competition already. The second day is the CSPU Invitational Shootfest where gun enthusiasts showcase their skills in practical shooting.
Our team composed of two reporters from Choose Philippines, Loqal.PH and us from PB Network in Manila had a quick interview with the head of the shootfest.
Here’s few of the photos we took at the CPSU Shooting Range.
There is also another event few meters away from our hotel. I guess it is motocross competition, but we failed to cover the event since there was a lot in our itinerary prepared by Tourism office of Kabankalan.
