A Jet Plane experience – SkyJet MNL-Busuanga flight in 30 minutes

With so much excitement on Monday, we hurried to the old domestic terminal in Pasay City to anticipate the first commercial flight of SkyJet in Busuanga (Coron), Palawan.

Finally, I will be able to fly on a jet! Yes, a jet plane! And take this – SkyJet BAE-146 series is the same jet that is used by the British Royal Family! I like to feel that I have Royal blood that day! Yay!

SkyJet BAE-146 series

We were part of the lucky three travel bloggers to be invited to the first commercial flight of the SkyJet in Busuanga. The Manila to Busuanga flight that day was not crowded, the 94-seater jet was only occupied by about 15% of passengers. A group of travel agents were also in the same flight. Of course, no less than the chief of the the airline is with us – Dr. Joel Mendoza.  The Busuanga-MNL flight was totally different, the jet was almost full. That’s probably because people who went to the island for the weekend break have heard about SkyJet and they want to try the service. We have seen mix of customers from foreign tourists to local group.

Accompanied by his team (Marketing team and staff), we boarded BAE-146 and off we went in the blue skies going to Busuanga. The flyers inside the jet says it takes 40 minutes, but we would like to prove it ourselves, so we timed our flight.

Official time: MNL-BUSUANGA 33 minutes, the photo above was captured when the captain announced that they are preparing to land already. BUSUANGA-MNL is 41 minutes, this included the air traffic at the NAIA. Still fast! The competition will take you an hour to get to Coron. With SkyJet, it takes you half an hour only.

Right now, SkyJet serves customers that flies to Coron/Busuanga and Batanes. Here’s the flight schedule.

Very soon, the airline will also fly to Virac, Catanduanes. And, did you know it will be fast to go to Caramoan Island in Cam Sur via Virac? I was told that it will take you only 25-minute boat ride from Virac to goto Caramoan! I hope we can try that as we will join SkyJet team again on their first commercial flight to Virac in April 15! If you want to join us on April 15, book your tickets now, they have an all-in promo fare of P2,000 only for MNL-Virac! See you Catanduanes!

The BAE-146 Jet is manned by Capt. Ed Tamayo, Capt. Maximo Rosales and FO John Jatico. The all smiling and very courteous flight crew are Ms. Rachel Gallarado and Rissa Mendoza.

If you are visiting Busuanga this summer time, the nearest tourist destination that you can visit are Malcapuya Island, Sangat Island and Banana Island. This was shared to us by the head of sales of SkyJet, Bleu Calo.
