The Tourism Authority of Thailand have been visiting the Philippines to reach out to the Philippine tour operators and travel agencies. Recently they conducted a half-day B2B event at the Dusit Thani hotel in Makati City, and we were invited to cover the event.
We covered a similar event like this last year, check it out in this post. This time the event was specific to the tourist operators and Thailand. Featured operators includes airlines in Thailand, Resorts and Spas, Transport operators and hotels.
The main objective of this event is for the travel agencies in the Philippines to meet the operators face to face. The usual drill is for the agencies to communicate by email and phones to the hotels, airlines and resorts abroad. The B2B event makes avenue for both businesses to expand business relationships without having to spend so much.
Operators are sellers that comprises airlines, hotels, resorts and spa, even rent-a-car, and theme parks. Organizers invite them to sit down and discuss their services, package tours, and promotions to travel agencies.
The Tourism Authority of Thailand headed by its Director, Kanok Kittika Kritwutikon or simply Kate shared Philippines is one their target market, she told me that about three hundred thousand of Filipinos went to Thailand in 2012, that is 7.6% increase versus 2011.
Tourists visits Thailand basically for shopping and dining and the famous medical tourism.
Tourism Authority of Thailand has 25 overseas and 35 domestic offices. The event held in Manila resulted to 120 travel agencies from the Philippines, while operators from Thailand includes 19 sellers that comprises of irlines, travel operators, entertainment agency, theme parks and transport.
